Ocean Schools explore global issues.

5 primary schools from the Ocean Estate have got together to create a digital web resource for schools in Tower Hamlets.

The schools, Ben Jonson, Cayley, Halley, Harry Gosling and Redlands schools are researching global issues such as Refugees, Fairtrade, Food, Health and Rights of the Child.

They used webquests archived on our LGfL website to research different topics. (These may not now be fully functioning)

A webquest is a tailor-made activity that children follow on a website, with all the resources they need at hand.

They then used their research to take notes and write a Powerpoint in just one morning, to show what they had learned.

storyboard
Writing what happens into a storyboard.
They used the information they gained from their research to create a storyboard and script for an animation.

They painted their backdrops and created their characters ready for their day at the City Learning Centre.

Paper, plastecine, or pre-made -what would you use?
You can make your models in many different ways.

They used a programme on the computer called "Digital Blue" to photograph their characters against their backdrops, creating their animation.

filming
Making their film.

Not only did they have to create an animation, they also had to make a film, learning about the role of a director, sound person, and camera person.

On top of that they edited their films to be viewed in a webpage, and put everything together at the CLC.

All in just one day!
