Citizenship Ceremony
Many schools have been exploring their identities as citizens of their schools.
They then share their work at a real Citizenship Ceremony.
At the request of the Mayor and Mayflower Primary School the children:
explored Tower Hamlets and Great Britain; created speeches for a citizenship ceremony, which were chosen by the Mayor and Registrar;
read their speeches during the ceremony to greet the new Citizens next to the Mayor;
filmed the event and interviewed the Mayor, Registrar and a new citizen;
shared their film at a full school assembly and on the web;
The last ceremony was used as a training morning for four primary schools, their children and teachers, with families from Globe school reading their speechs, and everyone interviewing the Deputy Lord Lieutenant and the Registrar.

As part of Tower Hamlets (Community Cohesion) School Linking Project, pairs of schools worked together and presented speeches at Citizenship Ceremonies.
Read their speeches and find out more.
