Saving the Rainforest

Hello my name is Mahid and I’ve been learning about loggers. Loggers are people who cut down trees and use the logs for paper and they use trees for brooms.

The rainforest animal’s homes are being destroyed because they are cutting down the trees; all animals that have homes in the trees have nowhere to go especially the parrots.

The big machines that the loggers use flatten all the land and ruthlessly destroy any plants in its way. These plants are food for the animals and sometimes the plants can be used to make really good medicine to cure the very sick people in the world.

The trees that they chop down are the lungs of the world and they are slowly killing us all.

I learnt a lot about what is destroying the rainforest and what we can do to help the rainforest. Some of the things that destroy the rainforest are logging, ranching and mining and building dams. Ranching is clearing and burning the jungle plants to grow grass to feed cows which eventually will be killed just to make burgers for fast food restaurants! I think that is ridiculous!

When the ranchers are burning the jungle plants they are burning new medicines which could cure a lot of people. The plants have medicine inside them so as well as just destroying the rainforest they are flattening plants which contain precious medicines. These could save your life one day.

My animation is about distruction of the rainforest.

I hope you enjoy our film!

Hello my name is Naseha and I’ve learnt a lot about rainforests. I have learnt about logging, mining and ranching, logging is cutting down trees just to get wood, mining is when they dig holes in the ground to get gold and lots more interesting things.

Animals have no more homes because everything is being destroyed. Logging is mostly harming the animals, especially the animals in the trees.

The machines for logging are stripping off all the branches of the trees, so any animals, mostly bird could die. This is always happening, over and over again.

The rainforests are being destroyed at the shocking rate 40 hectares, which is the same as 60 football pitches.

I have had much interest in rainforests. I learnt loads and will definitely want to learn more.

Hello my name is Nadiya and I’ve enjoyed learning about the rainforest

Mining is digging up holes in the ground to find gold, copper, iron and nickel. To get the precious minerals out they use poisonous chemicals which causes pollution.

Falling water can be used to make cheap electricity. To do this they have to dam up rivers and flood the land behind to make lakes that contain enough water to turn machines. When these lakes flood part of the rainforest, the plants and most of the animals are drowned. This is a terrible destruction of animal and plant life.

Save the rainforest and your own life!

Questions:

1. What is the problem in the rainforests?

2. Do you understand what logging, ranching and mining is?

3. Do you find this helpful or unhelpful?
