Saving the Rainforest

Hi my name is Anjuman. I have been learning about the rainforests in South America. How miners are slowly destroying the rainforest.

They dig up the ground destroying lots and lots of trees, because they cut the roots off. Nobody plants them again so there will be little bit of trees left in the world. Rainforests are disappearing at the rate of 3,800 acres a day.

There used to be ten million people living in the rainforest and because of the destruction there is only 200 thousand left.

But as well as people, animals are suffering because their habitat is being damaged. Especially birds that live in trees, their habitat is being cut down, for wood, timber, furniture for the rich countries and many other things. Land is being cleared so there is not so much grass which some animals like to eat. The plants are being destroyed because miners want to mine and loggers want to cut down the trees and plants to use them in their own country. But they don’t think about people who live in the rainforests and that they use it for medicine and other important things which can save peoples lives. The trees give oxygen which help us to breathe and when there is no trees there is no oxygen and when there is no oxygen there is no people.

The food you love to eat such as fruits, cinnamon, vegetables, vanilla, cocoa which make everyone’s favourite chocolate, cinnamon, sugar, corn, rice, lots of kinds of peanuts including the kola nut which is used to flavour the fizzy cola drink.

This is what I learnt about rainforests.

IF YOU WANT TO LIVE SAVE THE RAINFOREST FIRST!!!

bananas are come from the rainforest.
Animation here
Our animation is about saving the rainforest.

Hi my name is Ibtesam and I have been working with Anjuman learning about the destruction of the rainforest.
Due to the destruction of the rainforest 137 plants and animal species are lost every single day. As these disappear so do many cures for life threatening diseases
Ranchers clear and burn the jungle plants and grow grass to feed cows. The cows are then killed to make burgers for fast food restaurants. But the goodness in the soil runs out after 3 or 4 years, so the ranchers have to clear even more forest. This carries on all the time.
Water can be used to make cheap electricity. So in many places rivers are dammed to make lakes so that the water can turn machines. When these lakes flood part of the rainforest most of the plants and animals drowned.
If the destruction continues there may not be any rainforests left in 40 years time!
I have enjoyed learning about the rainforests and hope that people begin to take notice and stop all the destruction before it is too late.

watch our video about the rainfroest.

Hi my name is Shajedah and I have been working with Ibtesam and Anjuman on the rainforest project and I have learnt so much.
The loggers are destroying our rainforest. They are building roads deep in to the forest so that they can get their machines in and the logs out. New settlers follow the loggers and clear the unspoilt forest on either side of the roads. They grow crops or graze animals to make quick money for their families.
The mines in the Amazon produce iron, copper, and gold, these destroy trees and cause pollution with poisonous chemicals.
All of these will destroy the world and make this a horrible place to live so we must do all we can to protect the rainforests from any more harm

[Can you spot the man?]

How many pepole live in the rainforest today?

How long do you think it will take for the rainforests to disappear?

How many plants and animal are lost every day?

Anjuman, Ibtesan, and Shajedah
