_____________________ Osmani Primary School – the school councillors were on the interview panel for the post of Assistant Head; they helped run the healthy cooking clubs on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays; they also helped organise the Children in Need Fundraising event, Anti-Bullying week, and the school playground refurbishment.
St Johns Primary School –Ran activities and competitions for Black History Month and Book Week. They made sure playtime was enjoyable for children with different products and new equipment, and were responsible for giving out and collecting them. They are responsible for collecting recycling once a week. The council met with the cook to give feedback and suggestions.
Bigland – ran a tuck shop, visited parliament, explored what is a school council and role models, and removed students who were not good councillors. Class councils meet every month and the school council every month. Due to problem soil they set-up Garden planters which involved growing food with parents and social enterprise. Issue of how long children should be members of school council – those that have done it a long time have built-up great skills, knowledge and attitudes. Other issues: toilets/lunch times/ coat pegs in the hall.
We need your views and your reports. So get writing and taking pictures and (with your teacher’s permission) send them to us for publication on this site.
