Recycling & Local Area Improvements at Kobi Nazrul

Students with Recycle spelt out

Their project was about recycling and making their local area better.

Taking photos outside the school
After a brainstorm about recycling & the environment they all went outside. They had six cameras, in six groups to take photos of some of the rubbish outside and around the school.
They saw some people throwing cardboard and rubbish. They found some bins taped up.They were not sure why. They found rubbish around the bin. There was lots of dog's poo on the floor.
One bin taped up.

Food on the floor.

Someone ate Mc Donalds and threw it on the pavement, and the bin was right next to it.

It is bad to throw rubbish on the floor. Someone might trip on it. Rats and bugs can come.

They interviewed Mark Cutler, from the council. They wanted to know why the bins were taped up.

He told them that the council was replacing the old bins, and putting in new bins with lids to stop the rubbish blowing away.

The Council were also going to make rubbish bays, so people don't push the big bins around the road. This is so the cars don't crash into them.

He asked us to make sure we recycle. He asked us to make a leaflet and posters about recycling.

They made a film about recycling. They wanted to let people know about recycling. They wanted to let them know what is good about reycling.

At the end of the project they went outside to see what improvements the Council have been doing in the local area.

They saw new bins, and the old ones being taken away. They helped the builders to make a fence outside the school gate, so the cars don't crash into the students.
