Kimtee's top tips for a balanced diet

Breakfast is good for us!

Breakfast is probably the most important meal of the day.

E.g. Fresh orange juice or cereal with milk.

Five a day!

You should eat 5 portions of fruit and vegetables a day.

E.g. Always have salad with your meal NO sweets!

You need energy!

You should eat food containing carbohydrates in each of your meals.

E.g. Boiled rice or pasta is good for you.

Calcium is good for your bones!

Yoghurt and milk is good for you.

E.g. have cereal with extra milk.

Protein helps to repair the body
You should have fish at least twice a week and eat meat which has little or no added fat.
A little bit of fat is good for you but NOT TOO MUCH!
Too much fat is not good, but a little is ok. Hidden fats can be found in fried rice, chips, cakes, crisps, burgers, biscuits and foods which are cooked in fat.
Drink up!

We should be drinking about 8-10 cups of water a day. Drinks packed with sugar are bad for you.

E.g. you should especially be drinking after exercising and during hot weather.
