GLA London School Awards

On Wednesday 20th September at the Greater London Assembly building "City Hall", representatives of two schools from Tower Hamlets, arrived very excitedly to receive awards for all the environmental work they have been doing in their schools.

Less Litter and waste!
These actors were telling people to recycle their waste. They were pretending to be some of the things we throw away after we finish eating.

The Mayor, Ken Livingstone told people that next year Thames Water are going to be one of their sponsors:

"We are going to start looking at how to use less water. We water gardens with hoses when we don't need to. We use hoses to clean Dad's car when we should use a bucket. How many of you, when you brush your teeth leave the tap running?

Everywhere else in Europe, people only use 2/3rds of the water that we do. Getting that water ready for you to use takes a lot of energy and adds to global warming. Let's see if... we can get people to use less water."
