The Story begins...

There is a legend from times gone by about the Tower of London. The legend says that the ravens must never leave or the Tower will crumble and fall. This nearly happened once, as we are about to tell you.

One spring day the sun got out of bed and stretched. It beamed its golden rays down on a nest with three raven's eggs. There was a gentle crack and the little raven was born. Her parents named her Sonia and her brother and sister were called Charlie and Nasima.

The mother looked after her chicks well, feeding them with fruit, nuts and meat to make them grow. Little by little their feathers grew until one day they became fine and glossy. The three young ravens enjoyed their life at the Tower, especially watching all the tourists from different lands.

At last the day came for the ravens to have their wings clipped so that they wouldn't be able to fly away. The littlest raven, Sonia, heard the Beefeaters talking about this and wasn't happy at all. "I haven't seen anything of the world," she thought. "I'd like to have a few adventures in my life."
