Fruit
Tuck Shops
So here is what your School Council could do:
Carry
out surveys to find out:
- If the idea of a Fruit Tuck shop is popular
- How many children eat fruit and how often
- Which are the most popular fruits
Contact
fruit suppliers to find out how much fruit would cost
Order
the fruit from the chosen supplier
Find
out about Fairtrade and organic fruit and how these can help the people
who grow them and help to protect the environment; you could find out
if you can order these from suppliers
Plan
how to store fruit safely
Organise
the running of a Fruit Tuck shop - the Council could invite students to
apply for the job of running the shop and then interview them
Have
responsibility for collecting money and making sure it is kept safe
Design
posters and newsletters to inform the school community about the Fruit
Tuck shop
Find
out about how composting can help reduce the waste produced by the Fruit
Tuck shop
Survey
pupils again after the Fruit Tuck shop has been running for a while to
find out if more people are eating fruit than before
