School toilets may not be one of the favourite places but
they are often one of the most talked about.
Students in the Hermitage School Council realised that
the toilets were one of the main problem areas within the school
and raised their worries with the Head teacher.
So began a
project which led to the involvement of pupils, parents,
teachers, governors and even outside volunteers in a joint
effort to turn these negative spaces into positive ones.
The school
recently produced a mosaic for the outside school wall
and it was decided that mosaics would be an ideal way to
brighten up the toilets. As water often symbolises calmness
and relaxation it was agreed that the mosaic theme for the
eight sets of toilets would be water - see
