Take a walk round the East End of London .

You can download the pdf file of each walk, with a word file
of accompanying notes below. Charles Dickens,
Captain Kidd, Judge Jeffreys and Nicholas Hawksmoor, to name just
a few, have all have left their mark on London's East End.
With leaflets detailing walks in Wapping
and Limehouse, Spitalfields,
Whitechapel and the Isle of Dogs, all published by the London Borough
of Tower Hamlets, you can follow the trail of the famous and infamous
in this fascinating corner of East London.
Each leaflet traces routes through historic parts of the borough,
taking in a myriad of buildings and landmarks of interest on the
way.
Other walks include routes focusing on Jewish and Bengali cultural
highlights, canal-side walks, and a 'movie
map', which visits several
locations near Canary Wharf where blockbuster movies have been filmed.
The
Black History Walks are the most recent addition to the walks
collection - they lead visitors to places and events with significance
for black and Asian history in the borough.
The walks range from 1.5 to 2.5 hours and are designed to start
and finish close to a tube or DLR station.
The leaflets are available free of charge from local libraries,
other council buildings and London Tourist Information offices. You
can also download them from the pages here.
