| An NHS Nurse |
When Clement Attlee was PM, he created the National Health Service. Before
the NHS people had to pay to see a doctor or to go to hospital. Poor people
couldn’t afford to see a doctor, so they stayed sick, got worse or
died. He also created the National Insurance Service to help people who
were old or didn’t have a job. People like that could receive benefits. |
