Turn on the camcorder by turning the dial to “Play (VCR)”
(make sure you have rewound the tape in the camera)
Plug the cable from the camera DV socket
(at
the front of the camera),
into
the firewire port of the ibook.
Open the “imovie” software.
Click on the “import” button.

The clips will be imported into the clips area on the top-right of the
screen.

You can also view photos add audio, titles or create transformations
between clips from this area.
Drag the clips onto the timeline/clips viewer at the bottom
of the screen, in the order that you want them.
You can switch between clip or timeline views using the two
buttons on the lefthand side of the screen.
In timeline view, select a clip that you want to work on by
clicking on it once.
Drag the slider along to the point that you want the clip to start at,
by looking at the display screen.
Cut out the bit you don’t want by clicking on “File” then “ Split
video clip at playhead” You can then delete the bit you don’t
want,
Or change over to clips view and move the unwanted clip back up into
the clips area.
To export your finished clips as a movie, click on File, then “export
to Quicktime,” and name your finished Quicktime movie.
