Stag Beetle Design by the Scorpions Group.

This piece of writing was carried out as a group activity, in the Literacy Hour.

The children then focused on changing the text from the 1st person to the 3rd person.

First the Scorpions group designed a stag beetle. They drew their design on a large paper.

Listen to the children talking about their design.

Second Graham showed the frame of the minibeast to the whole class.
Sam and her group used wire to join the frame together.
Tahira used a bradle to make holes in the claws of the stag beetle.
Sam sewed the claws to the stag beetle's frame.
The children were surprised that the stag beetle was almost as big and as wide as the table.
